Software-mixed audio via x86 CPU
The original Xbox uses an nVidia MCPX southbridge with AC97-compatible audio, driven primarily through software mixing on its Intel Celeron CPU. With 64MB unified RAM and a hard drive, games commonly stream high-quality pre-recorded audio.
